Call to Order

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Scooters, 2750 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City, AZ.  The meeting was called to order at 12 p.m., by President Larry Adams.          

Attendees

President Larry Adams; Secretary/Treasurer John Caponetto; Directors Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi, and Shane Chester.  Absent:  Directors Chris Morgan, Tonya Frederickson, and Darryl Franklin.   Guest:  Charles Lopez.         

Minutes

President Adams asked everyone if they read the Newsletter.  Everyone said yes.  President Adams asked for a motion to approve the April Board Minutes.  Director Chester made a motion to approve the April Board Minutes.   Director Lopez-Rajaniemi seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  Motion passed.        

Treasurer’s Report

President Adams asked for a motion to dispense reading of the Treasurer’s report until tomorrow night’s general meeting.  Director Chester made a motion to dispense reading of the Treasurer’s Report.  Director Lopez-Rajaniemi seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  Motion passed.

 

Old Business

President Adams informed the Board that he read in the paper that the Academy of Building Industries school held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new building.  Secretary/Treasurer Caponetto said this is possible with donations and grants that they have received.  This process will take time as getting building plans together, getting bids will take time but we are moving forward.  Secretary/Treasurer Caponetto said he was also looking to see about a line of credit, if needed. 

New Business

Guest Speaker

President Adams said that Mohave County Assessor, Jeanne Kentch, will be our guest speaker for tomorrow night’s dinner meeting.

President Adams said that he went to the Diamondbacks Stadium for a seminar and met the newly appointed director of the Registrar of Contractors, Martin Quezada.  Mr. Quezada offered to come as a guest speaker to one of our dinner meetings. 

Secretary/Treasurer Capenetto said that he received an application for membership from Mike Williams, TWN Communications.  President Adams asked for a motion to approve the application for membership from TWN Communications.  Secretary/Treasurer Caponetto a motion to approve the application for membership from TWN Communications.  Director Lopez seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  Motion passed. 

Secretary/Treasurer Caponetto informed the Board that he spoke to Patty Stewlow of Foothills Bank regarding our $99,000 that we have in our savings account.  She informed him that if they put $70,000 in a four-month CD it would generate $1200 in four months.  Secretary/Treasurer Caponetto made a motion to invest $70,000 in a four-month CD at Foothills Bank.  Director Chester seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  Motion passed. 

Director Lopez-Rajaniemi said that she had talked to Jean at the Academy of Building Industries school regarding putting on a Home and Garden Show.  She said that not only would it be good publicity for the school, but the kids love working it.  She also said that she would like to see it moved to Fall instead of Spring as snowbirds would still be in town.  This subject will be brought up to the members at the general dinner meeting. 

Adjournment

President Adams asked if anyone had anything else to discuss.  He then asked for a motion to adjourn.   Director Chester made a motion to adjourn.  Secretary/Treasurer Caponetto seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  Motion passed.  Meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
