Call To Order
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, at Scooters, 2750 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City, AZ. The meeting was called to order at 12:08 p.m., by President Larry Adams.
Attendees
President Larry Adams, Secretary/Treasurer John Caponetto, Directors Larry Ojeda, Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi, Bob King, and Michael Andrews. Absent: Directors Shane Chester and Mike Williams. Guests: Robby Adams, Glen Rajaniemi, and Tom Cole, Registrar of Contractors.
Minutes
President Larry Adams asked if they read the Newsletter. President Larry Adams asked for a motion to approve the August Board Minutes. Director Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi made a motion to approve the August Board Minutes. Director Larry Ojeda seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report
President Larry Adams asked for a motion to dispense reading of the Treasurer’s Report until tonight’s general/dinner meeting. Director Michael Andrews made a motion to dispense reading of the Treasurer’s Report. Director Bob King seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
Old Business
Secretary/Treasurer John Caponetto said that at the Academy of Building Industries School they have finished putting up the wiring. He will be getting students to help put up the lights on the shades. Landscaping should be finished by Friday. Also, the coating on sidewalks should be finished by the end of the month.
New Business
President Larry Adams spoked on an article from the Arizona Republic newspaper regarding affordable housing. He said that they are putting more requirements to building a house, prices are going up and no one can afford homes.
Director Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi said that there are crucial problems with the Mohave County Building Department as their department is understaffed and they are outsourcing getting permits.
President Larry Adams introduced Tom Cole, Registrar of Contractors. Mr. Cole spoke to the Board Members regarding the R62 Licenses. Mr. Cole said that the Handyman license is for residential and not for commercial use. Mr. Cole said that this program started in Cochise County. This program is to give a pathway for illegal contractors to getting a proper license. Mr. Cole said that the Office of Economic Discovery put in $50,000 seed money. In three weeks, the grant money will dry up. He said that he would rather have them have a license than not. There was a question/answer period. Mr. Cole is looking for help to extend the Recovery Fund.
President Larry Adams said that there was a rumor that the city was taking over the Chaparral Country Club. Robbie Adams said that it was a done deal. Secretary/Treasurer John Caponetto said that Chaparral Country Club charges us $15 per meal. He said that besides them charging us sales tax on the $15, they are now charging us a 15% gratuity tax. We are taking a loss.
