PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Well it looks like we will just skip winter this year as we sure haven’t had any and it doesn’t look like we are going too.

Our annual Home and Garden Show is only 6 weeks away.  Your home show committee is very busy finalizing this years show and it is time to reserve your booth for the March 24th and 25th show.  The two-day event has been attracting over 1000 participants and anyone that has participated with a booth will tell you that it is worthwhile to participate.

Mohave County is continuing the process of substantially increasing building and zoning permit fees.  There are a number of public meetings scheduled on these fee increases over the next month.  So far public attendance has been disappointing at best.  The attitude is nobody shows up so they do not object to the increases.  In some cases, these increases are in excess of the 300% and we sure do care.

The Needles City Manager Mr. Rick Daniels, will be one of our guest speakers.  Mr. Daniels is trying recruit contractors to Needles as they have more building going on than contractors to perform it.

We will also have students from the Academy of Building Industries to talk about their greenhouse project and the upcoming Annual Duck Race April 21st which the school has taken over.  50% of the proceeds go to fund AOBI’s School Bus Greenhouse Project, and 50% of the proceeds go to CFW’s Entrepreneurship Program for the students in the community.

Make your dinner reservations now.  I know its Valentine’s Day so bring your spouse for an excellent meal and a good time at the Chaparral Country Club.
