President Rick Bastyr

 Happy August everyone.

As we begin the final approach of 2016, we also need to begin preparing for 2017. And I know I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but there really are some big changes coming. Unfortunately, it takes more than one or two people to complete all the tasks. We still have survey forms, a new directory to build, a membership drive, Christmas party and a HUGE 5th annual Home & Garden Expo to plan. We need all hands on deck to get these projects underway and completed by the end of the year. If you would like to become a part of one of these committees please see one of the board members ASAP.

If you haven’t noticed the election season is upon us at full strength. With they way the local seats are being filled we may not be able to meet all or any of the candidates. So please take a few minutes out of your day and at least read up on the issues and make good intelligent decisions based on your interpretation of the facts. Please don’t let your vote go to waste.

If you have any suggestions for guest speakers please let us know and we will do our best to get them scheduled. I personally would love to see a magician come in and entertain us for an evening. Maybe Larry can put a call into David Copperfield to see if he has some time to spare for us. Laura has volunteered to be cut in half if he is able to make it.

The Arizona Department of Revenue is changing all the forms for reporting T.P.T. or Sales Tax to that department.  There will be two representatives from the department of revenue at our August 10th dinner meeting to explain the changes.  This is a change you must know about and I urge you to bring whoever is responsible for filing your reports.  Make your dinner reservation now while you are thinking about it.

I look forward to seeing you all on August 10th at 6pm at Chaparral Country Club for a great meal and good company. Don’t forget to RSVP to be eligible for next months dinner.

New Business

Fifth Annual Home Show

President Bastyr said that this is our Fifth Annual Home Show and it’s going to be bigger and better. He and Director Lopez-Rajaniemi went to the Riverview Mall and toured the old Beale’s store. If they rent this store, we can increase vendor space. We will also get new carpeting. There is limited parking. There’s areas for the car show and bounce houses, that the kids from the Academy of Building Industries can oversee. We will also have banners on the corners. We need to get more advertising out earlier. We are also trying to work out a deal with Cameron Broadcasting.

Calendar of Events
