Remember back in September and we started talking about the home show? Remember we said its 6 months away, plenty of time to get things organized. Well…..OMG!!!! We have less than a week to finalize all the details!! There is still time to get a booth if you haven’t done so yet. The Freeman Company will be setting up for our home show this week and vendors will have all day Friday to get ready for the barrage of people over the weekend. There will be no major setups on Saturday or Sunday.
We also have more spaces for crafters. If you, or someone you know, likes to make handcrafted items and would like to show them off and make a little money this is the show for you.
Do you hear that? Can you you feel that low rumble in your chest? That’s the Classic Car, Truck & Bike Show pulling in on Saturday. This show features some of the best vehicles in the Tri-state area. It is also a big draw for the Home & Garden Expo. We’re expecting 2,000 visitors this year. That’s 2,000 reasons why you need to be involved in this show. Ask yourself, “When was the last time I had 2,000 people walk into your office in 2 days?” That should be reason enough right there.
There are a lot of things going on this month, but this is one of the biggest things to do. Don’t miss out.
To reserve a vendor spot or save a crafter booth call or text me at 928-201-8051.
To enter a car, truck or bike in the Classic Car Show call Catherine at (928) 715-3260 or just show up Saturday March 12 at 8am.
Bring the family. Lowes will have their kids building workshop on site. And Kiwanis will have their food trailer there with some great food for sale.
And our very own AOBI students will be on hand to show off some of the incredible wood working they have been doing this year. Trust me, these kids are producing some premium furniture pieces. And they will take orders to custom build something for you.
I hope to see all of you on Wednesday March 9th at 6pm for our dinner meeting and on March 12-13 for the areas best Home & Garden Expo. Remember to RSVP for your chance to win next months dinner for free.

BOARD LUNCH MEETING – February 9, 2016
Call to Order
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Scooters, 2750 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City, AZ. The meeting was called to order at 11:50pm, by President Rick Bastyr.
President Rick Bastyr, Vice President Larry Adams, Secretary John Caponetto, Treasurer Steve Bouman, Directors Steve Ramsey, Jim Underwood, Kim Camacho and Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi. Absent: Director Keith Parker.
Gerry White, from Our Town Magazine, took a group picture of the Board of the Mohave Valley Contractors Association.
President Bastyr asked if everyone had read the Minutes in the Newsletter. President Bastyr asked for a motion to approve the January 2016 Board Minutes. Director Ramsey made a motion to approve the January 2016 Board Minutes. Secretary Caponetto seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
President Bastyr asked for the Treasurer’s Report. Treasurer Bouman reported on the current Treasurer’s Report to the Board. President Bastyr asked for a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Director Ramsey made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Secretary Caponetto seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
President Bastyr asked Vice President Adams if he had anything to report on the TPT Bill. Vice President Adams said that there was suppose to have been a meeting last week to pass this Bill, and it has been rescheduled for February 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. One good thing that he mentioned is that the League of Cities and Towns has “tentatively” agreed not to oppose the change of system if percentage goes from 65% to 55%. So, a compromise has been struck. Vice President Adams stressed that we need people to attend and show up in support.
Economic Recovery Committee
President Bastyr asked Vice President Adams if he had anything to report on the Economic Recovery Committee. Vice President Adams told the Board Members that the Economic Recovery Committee’s future is still in question. There is still a lack of communication between the members of the Committee. Towards the end of February there is suppose to be a meeting. The new person replacing Chris Barton will start on February 29th.
Winter Expo Visitors Show
President Bastyr reported on the Winter Expo Visitor Show held February 4th at the Chamber of Commerce. There were quite a lot of people that showed up for this and we passed out between 500 and 600 flyers.
President Bastyr informed the Board Members that Althea Swanson of Tri-state had bi-pass surgery and is in rehab. Director Lopez-Rajaniemi said that Althea had helped her a lot in the previous Home Shows and now she needs help on the inserts that need to be put in the newspaper. They need fillers and she said that Friday is the deadline for the inserts.
President Bastyr reported that Freeman will be donating their fees to the AOBI School. That makes them $2000 ahead already. Also, sponsor signs need to be done. He said that we have four gold sponsors and two silver sponsors. Discussion was held to look for more sponsors.
Regarding promotional items for MVCA to pass out during the Home Show, President Bastyr passed out four different types of pens that cost from 26 to 32 cents. The Board Members decided on the “Belissmo” style pen that will cost 30cents apiece. Also, President Bastyr had a shirt on with the MVCA logo. He also had a catalog to choose the polo shirt for all the Board Members and they also decided on the color blue for everyone’s shirt.
President Bastyr also said that he will be talking to the AOBI School volunteers and let them know what is expected of them.
President Bastyr said we had an application for membership from Stream Line Solar. Discussion was held and President Bastyr asked for a motion to approve the membership application for Stream Line Solar. Vice President Adams made a motion to approve the membership application from Stream Line Solar, and Director Ramsey seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
President Bastyr asked if anyone had anything more to discuss. Seeing none, he asked for a motion to adjourn. Vice President Adams made a motion to adjourn and Director Ramsey seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 1:13 p.m.
