Well here we are. Two months into the new year. Before you know it we’ll be talking about planning of the Christmas party again. But until then, let’s discuss the upcoming main event.
Saturday will also be our 2nd annual car show. There is a $20 entrance fee with all the proceeds to benefit the AOBI school. The students are currently making the trophies for the event. If you would like to enter a car, truck or bike in the show registrations will be accepted Saturday morning from 8-10. The show will be judged from 11-2 with the awards announced at 3pm. Last year we had about 50 cars so come check them out.
In other news, the city is quietly trying to raise permit fees. Some of our members attended a workshop last week and we hope to have more info at the dinner meeting so be sure to attend. According to some statistics the city permit fees are double what the county fees are currently.
Our guest speaker this month will be Peggy Gillman from MEC. She will be updating us on some of the on going issues concerning our co-op.
I look forward to seeing all of you on March 11th at 6pm and don’t forget to RSVP for your chance to win next months dinner for free.

BOARD LUNCH MEETING – February 10, 2015
Call to Order
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2014, at Scooters, 2750 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City, AZ. The meeting was called to order at 11:47 a.m., by President Rick Bastyr.
President Rick Bastyr, Vice President Larry Adams, Treasurer Steve Bouman, Directors Kim Camacho, Terry Kreidel, Keith Parker, and Catherine-Lopez Rajaniemi. Absent were Secretary John Caponetto and Director Darryl Connella.
President Bastyr asked the Board if they had read the Minutes of January’s Board Meeting. Everyone agreed that they had read the Minutes. President Bastyr asked for a motion to approve the Minutes of January’s Board Meeting. Treasurer Bouman made a motion to approve the Minutes of January’s Board Meeting. Director Parker seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
Treasurer Bouman reported on the current Treasurer’s Report to the Board. President Bastyr asked for a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Director Kreidel made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Director Parker seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
President Bastyr said that the Home Show Committee met on January 27. He said that the Kiwanis Club is going to do all the food for the event. They will be having coffee and doughnuts. They will be selling hot dogs and also will be having pulled pork. He reported that Verizon is moving out so we will be able to use the corner area. The next Committee meeting will be held tomorrow night at 5pm, just before our general meeting. Director Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemie will lead the meeting as President Bastyr maynot be at the meeting. Vice President Adams will also be attending the Committee meeting.
Director Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi said that the Mohave Daily News is selling ads for inserts in the paper for the Home Show. This is a good form of income. There should be 8800 copies on Thursday before the Home Show. She also said that the newspaper will help with the layout. We should also put out information regarding the Academy of Building Industries, and information regarding the Mohave Valley Contractors Association and what they are all about. It will cost $1715 to put inserts in for advertisement. A motion was made by Director Kreidel to approve the $1715 towards the inserts for advertisement in the Mohave Daily News and Director Parker seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
Director Camacho said we need to put an insert on “What’s New for Families”. We also need more vendors for the Home Show.
Where To Retire
President Bastyr asked Vice President Adams how we are doing with the labels. Vice President Adams said that we had around 350 labels. We have had a good response. He also said that if we continue with“Where to Retire”, we need to change our advertisement. He mentioned that the Chamber or Commerce has been great.
President Bastyr asked the Board Members if they have come up with any new ideas to bring in new revenue. It was mentioned that it’s kind of hard as so many of the groups like Rotary Club and Kiwanis have a lot of functions going on. We need to come up with some new ideas for fund raising.
President Bastyr asked who’s manning the booth. Director Lopez-Rajaniemi needs the banner from last year and President Bastyr said he would get it to her. She also has brochures and flyer which she passed out for review.
Vice President Adams showed the Board Members a copy of the Sales Tax Reform consisting of 67 pages. He said it hasn’t passed yet, but 60 pages of this has already passed. He read portions of the copy to the Board Members.
President Bastyr talked about the ads on the website. He asked if anyone was monitoring this or collecting money on this. Treasurer Bouman said this is under his area. We should push selling ads at our dinner meeting tomorrow night.
President Bastyr said he found a great deal on Amazon for audio equipment, but it’s gone now. He mentioned that they had used the City’s audio equipment the last time and it would be great to have our own audio equipment. Vice President Adams made a motion that the next time an opportunity comes up to buy audio equipment under $1000, to do it. Director Parker seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.
President Bastyr entertained a motion to adjourn. Vice President Adams made a motion to adjourn and Director Lopez-Rajaniemi seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at1:12 p.m.
The Board Members went into Executive Session after the meeting.
