PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Merry Christmas,
Here we are again. Another year almost gone. As you reflect back I hope you met your goals for the year and have new ones for 2015!

This months dinner meeting is also our annual Christmas party. I hope we have a big turnout. It would be nice to see some new faces. I know everybody gets busy, but now is the time to get together and catch up with family and friends.

The party starts at 6pm on Wednesday December 10th. Prime rib will be the main course.  The cost is $20 per plate and as always includes dessert. 50/50 and door prizes will be drawn throughout the night.

BOARD LUNCH MEETING – November 11, 2014

Call to Order

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Scooters,2750 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City, AZ. The meeting was called to order at 11:48 a.m., by President Rick Bastyr.

Attendees

President Rick Bastyr, Vice President Larry Adams, Secretary John Caponetto, Treasurer Steve Bouman, Directors Darryl Connella and Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi. Absent were Directors Terry Kreidel, Kim Camcho, and Keith Parker.

Minutes

President Bastyr asked if everyone had read the Board Minutes from last month. He then asked for a motion to approve the October Board Minutes. Director Connella made a motion to approve the Minutes for the October Board Meeting, and the motion was seconded by Treasurer Bouman. All were in favor. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Bouman reported on the current Treasurer’s Report to the Board. President Bastyr asked for a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Director Connella made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Vice President Adams. All were in favor. Motion passed.

OLD BUSINESS

Christmas Party

President Bastyr told the Board that December’s General Meeting Christmas Party dinner will consist of Prime Rib and the price will be $20 instead of the usual $15. Discussion was held regarding getting donations from different businesses for prizes at the dinner. Chaparrel Country Club is making the center pieces for the tables. Someone mentioned that Director Kreidel has received donations from ABC and something donated from Cocktails. We need to work on more donations for prizes. Treasurer Bouman made a motion to have $200 for door prizes. Treasurer Bouman withdrew his motion. Secretary Caponetto made a motion to have two $100 bills in separate envelopes. Vice President Adams seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion passed.

Home Show

President Bastyr told the Board that the Home Show Committee met a couple of weeks ago and it was decided to raise the booth prices to $25. He told the Board that the Home Show will be held March 21-22, 2015. They also would like to add two more booths. The sponsorship fee of $1000 stays the same. They need a couple more sponsorships of $500. They also need more landscaping companies to show their wares at the Home Show. It was decided to have coffee and donuts in the morning. They will be having hot dogs, sodas, and chips for the rest of the day. President Bastyr said they are hoping to have RV’s brought in from Paul Henreich RV’s. Saturdays schedule is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the River Cruizers car show. Sunday’s schedule is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Big Boys Toys, i.e., boats, water crafts, RV’s. There will be security in the evening from Warren Security. President Bastyr said that the prices are $225 for members, $325 for nonmembers. Registration for the car show is $20 per car. Treasurer Bouman talked about possibly having trophies built by the Academy of Building Industries students as they will be the recipients of the monies taken in by the Home Show for scholarships for their school. President Bastyr said the next meeting of the Home Show Committee will be held November 18th at Scooters at 11:00 a.m.

Bylaws

Secretary Caponetto passed out the revised Bylaws to the Board Members and clarified as to who can come to our general meetings and Board meetings. Vice President Adams made a motion to approve the revised Bylaws, and Treasurer Bouman seconded the motion. All were in favor of the motion. Motion approved. All the Board Members told Secretary Caponetto that he did a great job in revising the Bylaws.

NEW BUSINESS

President Bastyr brought up an idea of possibly getting shirts and cards made with the MVCA logo for the Board members and maybe having “Staff” on the shirts. It was decided that President Bastyr will be designing a card via vista print cards.

Academy of Building Industries

Treasurer Bouman reported on the Open House held at the school and that it was pretty well attended. He said they have a new VAC electrical instructor. He also told the Board Members that they need to start pushing for sponsorships for shops at the school. It was decided to bring this up again at the next Board Members meeting as to scope of sponsorship price.

New Sales Tax Requirements

Vice President Adams passed out to the Board Members an article regarding “New Sales Tax Requirements to Hit Arizona Construction Contractors”. He said that he had called Loretta Kerns of the City of Bullhead City’s Finance Department, and that she had no knowledge of this tax. He hopes to have someone from the State Department of Revenue to be speaker for January’s general meeting to learn more about this sales tax requirement. He will have copies of this article to pass out to the members at tomorrow’s dinner meeting.

Adjournment

President Bastyr asked if there was anything else to discuss. If not, we need a motion to adjourn. Director Connella made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Treasurer Bouman. All were in favor. Motion approved. Meeting adjourned at 12:43 p.m.
