Hello members, happy March to you all. I hope you are doing well. Last month we talked about the 1% sales tax increase. First I would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting, it was the best turnout I have ever seen since joining the association. Approximately 95% of you are against this tax. However, only about 10% said anything against it at the last meeting. We talk a big talk, but if we don’t have the support of our members then why waste the time? The opportunity to stand up and be heard on the issues has passed. A few people told me the meeting got way off track and I should have stopped it. Most of the time spent was on the roads. What I took away from it, from the people that asked questions, was they were questioning how the city handled the projects and if they were done correctly and fiscally. Also, the ones that questioned me NEVER spoke a word during the meeting.
March 12th is the big day. So get out there and VOTE!!!!
The home and garden expo is approaching rapidly. Spots are filling up and residents are getting excited. There is still time to register, so call or go online at www.mvcaaz.org and download the application.
I hope to see everyone at the next dinner meeting on March 13th at 6pm.
President Rick Bastyr

Secretary Caponetto brought up the subject of our website and that our Newsletter needs an area where you can check a mark for our monthly dinner reservations. We want to get away from phone calls.
Another problem is changing the membership list. We also want the ability to check on business advertisements.

He said we need to concentrate on questions to put to Mayor Hakim and City Manager Cotter. Secretary Caponetto wanted to know how did it get onto the March ballot. As an Association, we need to fight this sales tax bill. We need to gather funds, we need to put out newspaper ads, and put something in our booths fight this bill. It was mentioned that Neil Young, reporter for the Mohave Valley News, will be at the dinner meeting.
It was discussed placing ad in Our Town magazine for $199. Due to budget constraints, it was decided that we wait for next year.
